Hey You

It’s beautiful not knowing
What it’s all about
Not burdened by the question
No, nothing to figure out
Another chance renewed
Simplicity easily forgotten
You plus Love equal Peace
And that’s all that I believe in

Walk

Old memories quickly fade
As the sun warms their faces
The gentle ocean breeze
Removing painful traces

The world trying desperately
To destroy happiness
Jealously misunderstood
Undeterred is their success

Silence complimented
By the shifting of the sand
Smiles are exchanged
As they walk hand in hand

Question

Finally I beg the question
As we strive along together
Name a goal that warrants our days
And that of generations forever
We consume ourselves with this or that
In the end frivolity
Happiness a selfish pursuit
A label born of jealousy
How does one find meaning
When all the world does fight
Day escaping like unseen winds
As fleeting as day and night
Still no answer as of yet
To justify our part
Perhaps we should instead look inward
To review the content of heart
Looking solely in the mirror
Weight, parsing, trying to see
If a value can be found
Or what we might could be
Finding in us simplicity
That could slow this wretched time
A cheek to kiss, a hand to hold
Could offer peace sublime
Yes to love, no matter belief
The only answer known
To give without expecting
That you yourself will own
Kindness and no judgment
Destroying egos along the way
Taking off youth’s blinders
Living fully every day

Break Room

Clinging to our weakness
Of our disorders proud
The truth a relative tool
But in title, not allowed
The pain must be nurtured
To hurt with a noble cost
Applying pressure to the erring one
To the man we deem lost

Faux

Hiding in a mixture of
Nothing even resembling love
Masking the worst attributes
While insecurity is breaking loose
Ignoring what would mean the most
To wholly heal and protect the host
We say we want to keep “it” real
As long as “it” has mass appeal
Analyzing what we say
Losing ourselves along the way
